MRT vs bus

The other day we went to Orchard and going back to the house we took the bus instead of express train.

I requested to my companion that we take a double deck bus. "Bus number 65 is always a double decker," says my friend.

"Yahoo! I get to ride again in a double decker." I was beaming.

My friend can't believe my reaction.  He thought I was acting like a kid. I really wanted to ride a double deck bus to see the roadside view and it makes me feel like a tourist in the city. I remember the first time I rode a double deck bus in Isle of Man.  I wanted to go through the same feeling.  I loved the view of pasture lands, lambs, shrubs and rolling hills.  The scenery in Isle of Man was postcard perfect. I had a good view from the higher deck of the bus. It makes me want to write a poem to describe the scenery outside my window. Unfortunately, it was a short ride.

Well, I know most of what we see in Singapore are man-made but I think urban planning is really good.  The building designs are cool.  I still think that riding in a bus and seeing the roadside view is better  than looking at pitch black underpass.  Enjoy the city when you travel via bus. Get to observe people.

Traveling via MRT is fuss-free when you are working or have an appointment but when you are not press for time, go for bus.

Boredom - means when you just repeatedly click on home of FB to refresh it and read all news feeds that are recently posted; no movie is appealing to watch; you keep on checking the stats or hits of your blog evry hour; you wanted to bug someone who doesn't want to talk or chat with you; when you lie awake late at night and you keep running in your mind the good old days; synonymous to the name Katie (?)

Sleeping muse please visit me nightly, please...

Drop me a message if you're bored also.

First time ever

I maybe just bumming around here in SG but there are positive things happening to me.  One, I gained 2.2 pounds after 3 weeks since I got here.  My skirts which a little bit loose fit just right now.  This is the first time I have physically experienced the change in my body. Also, it is very noticeable in my face that I have put on more flesh.  Even my brother noticed it on the webcam.  Yahoo!!

Second, I learned more about blogging and trying to learn adobe CS5 extended.  And lastly,  I resumed exercising daily.

My goal is to gain additional 5 kilos this month of February.

I have nothing particular in mind to write about, I just wanted to weave words after reading poems and FB posts of message believers. I feel that my heart is overflowing with joy and hunger for more Word of God.  I am blessed to see message believers shout out to the FB community how they love God and the blessings they received from the Almighty.

V-day

February 14 - an annual day celebration of love and affection among lovers according to Wikipedia.  Today, it has evolved to family day and friends day. I greeted my single friends a happy valentine's day and reminded them not to feel down because people around them are celebrating the day with their intimate companions. It is just an ordinary day for me like in the past years but it is a bonding time with friends.

Yesterday was really a fun-filled day for me.  Went to Universal Studio and had fun in taking pictures with some movie characters like Frankenstein (hope i got his name right ;)  We watched also the fireworks show at the Hollywood lake. Went to sleep recollecting how my day ended.

Woke up on a bright Monday morning.  Bought a newspaper hoping to see some cheeky stories in frontpage but the usual political stories occupied frontpage. Was not expecting anything at all on V-day.  I wanted to go out and see how Singaporeans celebrate V-day but I was too excited to post my pics in FB.  Viewing the pics already made my day.  I spent my day FB-ing. hahhahha

One of positive things brought upon by Facebook is it made people more expressive of how they felt.  My aunt who is shy when it comes to showing affection to her husband in public posted her picture in FB where she strewn rose petals on her bed and formed the message "I love u, Dad!" My friend D posted in her wall this message "Life is splendid because of you.  I love you and happy valentine's day sweety."  It's nice to know love is all around us.

You may think that you are not influencing people with the revelation of the life that you live in Christ. If your life in any way connects with other people you are an influence in their beliefs and values. Confessing with your mouth and believing with your heart influences people.

I took the whole day off  from net surfing and had marathon viewing of feel good movies (Maid of Honor and Love Happens).  The former was starred by Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan.  This is a story of two people who are best of friends but none realized or accepted they are good for each others as lovers not just bestfriends. Tom (Patrick) agreed to be the maid of honor of Hannah (Michelle) to steal her from her fiance.  Tom realized late that the girl whom he wants to spend his lifetime with is Hannah. Tom went out of his way to please her bestfriend and awaken her heart. It is a formula movie but nonetheless for someone who just wants to have a laugh this movie is okay to watch.
I love this line from Tom: "Nobody in the world makes me laugh the way you do. You're my best friend. I just wanna be with you. "

The second movie main casts of Love Happens include Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. Burke (Aaron) is a well-known author of a self help book who has not overcome the demise of his wife.  He  fell in love with Eloise (Jennifer) who is a florist and runs her own flower shop.  It was Eloise who helped the guy to face his fears.  Not an outstanding movie.  I like these lines from Burke.

"When one thing ends, something begins."
"Fear is a state of mind."
"Happiness is a state mind."
Message believers are weaving nice poems for and about the Lord.  I have taken this from Facebook.

The One who spoke to Daniel
is the One Who speaks to me
He showed me of a blending of time and eternity
The Life it lept within me to understand these things
I'm altogether different
my Life has taken wings!

The world is a facebook!

The world is a Facebook. Men and women, young and old alike are hooked with this social networking site. It has eclipsed Multiply, Friendster, and other social networking sites in popularity.

I thought it was only Filipinos who are into FB phenomenon but even Europeans are as addicted as Filipinos.  When I was in Bangkok, I stepped into a net cafe and was looking around for a vacant station. FB is plastered on the screen of the stations occupied by European tourists. During the bus ride to Chiang Mai I met a guy from England and we exchanged contact info.  "If you have a Facebook account you can add me,"  this good looking British guy told me. On another occasion, I met a Turkish filmmaker who also asked me if I have an FB account. A French guy who was in my tour group also told me he has an FB account.

One time in Manila I was eating in a fastfood and a family of  five was seated adjacent to my table.  The father who seemed to be in his early 50's told his wife and kids "Let's have our picture taken here because it would be nice to post it in FB."  The teenager son and the younger kids happily obliged to their father's request.

FB got people hooked in photography. A lot of people are posting what they ate in FB. My housemate and friend here in SG is always picture-ready whenever she goes out and loves clicking her iphone inside the MRT and those pics guaranteed find its way to her FB account. :)

Even my pastor and his family are into FB.  My pastor's wife is always posting new pics in her account and I also get to chat with her. Believers are using the social networking site to spread the Word of God. I may be away from my home church but I get to be reminded of God's words thru FB.

It is through FB that I get re-connected with friends I haven't seen for so many years.

I bet there are great love stories in FB as well.  I heard stories of couples who met through FB. Guess, this coming valentine's day a lot of stories how they met will be published. :)

FB is used as marketing tool also. I liked some pages about travel tours.  The snippets seen in right hand side are advertisements of various products and services. Small and big companies are maximizing the site's popularity.  Target and Amazon has its own fan page.

Mass media is shut down in Egypt but real stories still gets posted in FB. The Turkish filmmaker I met in Bangkok is sharing news from Egypt thru his wall.

But some people are posting info as mundane as "I am eating burger at burger junction."  They shout it out to the world that they got drunk last night or that they are having LQ.

FB users should observe FB-tiquette.  There are things that should be privately talked about and in that case an email through FB would be more appropriate to use.  FB is a powerful tool as a communication medium not to mention it is fun as well! Hope people should know what should be shared in public and only to selected people.
