Blessing in disguise

Challenges in life are also blessings from the Lord. As I always believe that all things work together for good, the trials in a Christian life are not meant to pressure the believer but to strengthen faith and character. Trials are negative things upfront but the result is always positive and happy.

Go AZKALS!

Football or soccer is gaining popularity in Philippines, thanks to Azkals. I know that although it isn't a popular sports in the country there are still lots of schoolchildren playing the game. I didn't know we had a national team and have heard only about it in December 2010! That's when the team won the game against Vietnam. I didn't know that we had national team since 1900s.

The team caught the attention of media. and boy, most of the members are good looking men.

I didn't know the game football and soccer are the same but there are variations though - association football and rugby football.

Azkals made the Filipinos proud (and am one of them) when they beat the defending champ Vietnam. Tomorrow the Azkals will play against Kuwaiti Team. Kuwaiti is a strong team and it will be a test of Azkals' strength. Hope to see Azkals play in the World Cup game series.

Go Azkals, beat the Kuwait team!

Touch & Go

"Life they say is touch & go. People will only be there for sometime, but for those who find you special, they will always find ways to stay."

This is so true. You will keep in touch with people whom you consider special in your life. Distance will not matter. Time will always be available for them.

On Friendship

A friend of mine posted this qoute in Facebook.

"A true friend cares like a mom, scolds like a dad, teases like a sister, irritates like a brother and loves more than a lover."

I googled the source of this quote but unable to find the source.

Very few people care this much for a friend and am one of them. I appreciate a friend who treats me this way because I know the friendship is genuine because the person takes you as his/her own. In my entire adult years, I met two people who really cares. The distance and the nature of the job separated us. The other person is me. I care in that way for few friends whom I really consider friends.

I met a person two years back who didn't appreciate this kind of friendship. I get ridiculed or receive mean feedback sometimes when I show this kind of friendship. I don't hold the negative feedbacks about a friend when I know that no one would have the guts to tell him/her about it.

I learned that if there are true friends, there are also false friends. I prayed to God to keep these false friends away from me. I take friendship seriously and it pains me when someone breaks my trust. I pray also that I will find more true friends because they are a treasure.

I have handful of friends whom I get along well but I can't really be comfortable telling them all my thoughts and show my quirkiness. Maybe time is what we needed to get to know more of each other. I am still thankful of these people though because they show me how much they care especially in bad times.

Mobile Applications

When I was in college, my friend and I toyed with the idea of translating the English Dictionary to Filipino for mobile phone users. We planned how to go about it and started to work on it. Unfortunately, we got busy with other things and forgot about the big project. Maybe if we continue with the project, we are tech entrepreneurs today.

The other night my niece gave me a copy of a dictionary application for mobile phone. The app was created by an Indian. The app is freely distributed though.

On another note, I read the book "Delivering Happiness" by Tony Hsieh the second time. Hsieh never fails to inspire me and motivate me to work on my to-do list and achieve my dreams. He is such an inspiration!

In the news: Mayor Punches a Sheriff

A few days ago, a lady mayor grabbed the headlines for punching four times a sheriff. The lady mayor got irked because the sheriff started the demolition without her and he ignored the instruction to wait for the lady boss before dismantling.

The following day, headline was the lady mayor went on leave to allow fair investigation on the incident. She was ready to face whatever the outcome of the investigation and there was no remorse on her side for hitting the poor sheriff. She said she did what was right.

Her courage is commendable but her ways in reprimanding an erring employee is deplorable. I don't understand why the need for investigation. Yes, the sheriff was at fault but no employer or government official should reprimand someone who erred by physically hitting the person. This is a negative precedent for govt officials. Whatever the reason is, it does not justify the action. The sheriff should be reprimanded through suspension or dismissal (if the law calls for it). The lady mayor should be suspended and if necessary ask for apology from the sheriff. The president should not condone the barbaric act of a mayor who has very strong clout in Davao.

Coca Cola Go Green

Coca-Cola goes "green". A billboard made up of plants was put up in EDSA. There is hope for mother earth if people continue to do something green. This billboard they say will absorb the pollution on the road. Manila is listed as one of the dirtiest and unsafe city in the world. This ingenuity is a refreshing idea. I hope that companies will continue to do something like this.
